Sara Bissig, Go Green Eco Taxi |
Picture this -- you and your friends go to The Woodlands, Texas to have a bright time since it's the right time to rock the night away.
After finally finding a parking spot, your friends decide on an itinerary of shopping at The Woodlands Mall, then eating dinner at Market Street and lastly, taking pictures at Waterway Square.
Instead of mixing and a-mingling in the jingling feet by walking to each destination, or driving and re-parking, ride on the Go Green Eco Taxi to help save time and the environment.
Sara and Jimmy Bissig operate the Eco Taxi, a battery-powered neighborhood electric vehicle with zero emissions. Shoppers, tourists and concert-goers can venture through The Woodlands for only $3 each person, per destination. Children under 10 years old and pets ride for free.
"During the holidays the parking is horrible, so it's much more convenient to grab the Eco Taxi," said Britney Davis, regular passenger.
Sara Bissig's environmentalist mentality fueled the establishment of the Eco Taxi business. An enduring influence on her green lifestyle is the remembrance of a television commercial that aired in the 1970s, which featured public littering and a Native American's reaction with a single tear.
"That commercial touched me and it was probably the beginning of my drive to make a difference," said Bissig.
The Eco Taxi is such an innovative, green spectacle that businesses have seized the opportunity to advertise on the vehicle.
"I've been here since 1981 so I'm always excited to see new, invigorating ideas to promote the Woodlands," said Pat Moritz, realtor for RE/MAX. Onlookers can see the cheerful expression on Moritz's face on top of the Eco Taxi.
