39 Interactive: Helping the Hearing Impaired

For the Hearing-Impaired, life had its challenges--that's why sign language is so important. A local Company is working on a way to get more interpreters in more places all the time Communication Axess Ability Group (CAAG), a provider of communication and interpreting services for the deaf and hearing impaired, is unveiling Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) nationwide--changing the landscape for interpreting services for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. VRI uses real-time video confrencing to connect Deaf and the Hard of Hearing to sign language interpreters using high-speed internet connection, and a web camera to help them speak with their doctor, lawyer, fellow employees, and government agencies. VRI saves businesses money and time. An interpreter never has to drive from one location to another, they can sit in one of the cubicles at CAAG or just sign-on from their home computer. CAAG has nearly 100 interpreters ready to connect with anyone in Houston or the world. VRI technology : A true sign of the times.
