If you're wondering why your dog is spending more time in front of the TV, it could be the result of Monday's debut of Time Warner's cable channel, DogTV.

"Loving our dogs so much, we feel guilty when we leave them home alone,'' said Gilad Neumann, CEO of DogTV.

"DogTV provides customized television entertainment while the rest of the family is away at work or too busy to play.''

Touted as the ideal babysitter for dogs, DogTV could be the ultimate doggie daycare, letting your pooch stay at home while being entertained all day.

Neumann said the channel's programming not only entertains your dog, but that "studies show it relaxes and stimulates dogs, keeping them healthier and more content."

There are three programming segments, to help soothe the beast in your dog tune your pet in to calming sounds and music. If you need to keep your dog alert, tune in the stimulation segments that feature dogs romping, playing ball or taking a dip. "Exposure" segments aim to get your pet acclimated to every day stimuli like riding in the car.

If you're thinking of tuning in to DogTV, they recommend allowing your pet some space to interact with the content on the TV, keep the volume your normal listening volume (they've already adjusted the sounds for dog's sensitive ears) and don't get worried if your dog becomes excited or unusually relaxed — they either are excited to have found a new best friend or are just chilling like the ultimate couch potato.
