An elderly woman got a rude awakening Sunday morning when an intoxicated 21-year-old man found his way into her bed.

The woman's 56-year-old son was spending the night at his mother’s East Bremerton apartment when he woke up about 6:30 a.m. to the sound of her screaming, The Kitsap Sun reported.

Inside her bedroom, the man found his mother in hysterics and an unknown man sleeping in her bed.

The 80-year-old woman told police she screamed when the stranger entered her bed and asked him what he was doing. He replied, "passing out."

Police were called to the scene and the man was arrested. The Sun reported the man eventually sobered up and apologized for the incident — insisting he thought he was in his friend’s apartment. He also apparently urinated on the woman's living room floor and apologized and said he would assume any cleaning costs related to the incident.

The 21-year-old lives on the Bangor submarine base and told police he had been drinking at a friend's apartment nearby. The Kitsap County Prosecutor's Office is considering possible charges.
