13 year old, Alexis Wiley, passed away this afternoon at Memorial Hermann Hospital. Wiley was shot last night in southwest Houston after her mother's car was involved in a hit and run.
Houston Police say 24 year old suspect, Richard Calderon, hit the car and then drove off.
Wiley's mother, also a TSU police officer, tried to catch up with Calderon, in order to get his license plate number. After she got the number and drove off, Calderon fired several shots at her car. One which hit her daughter in the back of the head. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.
Calderon was arrested and confessed shortly after. He now faces murder charges.
Alexis was a 7th grader at Johnston Middle School. Grief counselor are on campus today and available.
