But what about other alternatives during this pollen season?

39 news learned that certain foods you eat can trigger different allergic reactions. We paid a trip to the Central Market H.E.B off of 3815 Westheimer on Monday, March 15 to get some more insight on that topic from their healthy living section experts.

From different products like Honey bee pollen, local Texas honey to organic fruits like oranges and apples can actually make your immune system stronger to fight off those allergies. According to a recent study by USA Today, oral allergy syndrome can occur if someone eats certain foods, like fresh fruits.

So what happens if you're allergic to some of those?

"We have a variety of homeopathic and herbal combinations here at Central Market. Nettles and bromelain is very good," said healthy living lead Thelma Brown, who's been with Central Market for eight years in Houston.

"Nettles is very good for itchy water eyes. Pineapple is very good too for allergy season. It's a great anti-inflammatory, and it helps boost the immune system and it helps for digestion as well. With the natural vitamins that apples and oranges contain, like vitamin C and biotin and potassium with bananas, all of that helps with boosting the immune system. And that will help definitely to keep people ready for the allergy season."

Brown recommends going the natural route because if you invest now, you'll save yourself lots of money down the road on other over the counter medicines. Not to mention that expensive trip to the doctor's office if you don't have insurance.
