Gun owners are apparently stocking up to load up. For some gun stores like Jim Pruitt's Gun and Ammo Shop, customers are coming in and buying as much ammo as they possibly can.

"Never have I seen such a shortage like this there has always been an abundance of ammo I talked with one major whole seller who got in a huge shipment an 18 wheeler full a warehouse full of ammo and it was gone in one day," said salesman Barry Warren.

Some gun shop workers say they believe that customers are afraid that huge taxes will soon be placed on ammunition and some states are considering placing a "fingerprint" on ammunition. With the supply low and the demand high, the next box of shells you buy will probably cost you a little more.
