HOUSTON -
The astronauts from Space Shuttle Atlantis returned to Houston Monday to be greeted by family and friends. They all lined up and swapped space stories, but trying to find the right words was tough.
"I could say incredible, spectacular, wow, oh my goodness, they don't relay what truly this experience is like," said one astronaut.
"There's nothing that could describe it. The space shuttle is a magnificent vehicle. The Space Station is this awesome beautiful vehicle, and to look at it and to look out from it down to our planet it's just really and truly indescribable," said another astronaut.
The mission was STS-129, which included three spacewalks and the installation of two platforms to the International Space Station.
The platforms will hold large spare parts and the crew delivered about 30,000 pounds of replacement parts to help keep the Space Station running.
Back on the ground the stories kept going, but for one astronaut, the biggest story happened right here on earth: His wife gave birth to a baby girl.
"Today was a very special day to come back and thank all the teams that made it possible. It was awesome," said the new father.
