Conroe Police were called out to the 18000 block of E. Davis around 10 p.m. Saturday after reports of a man on a motorcycle hit by the driver of a Saturn. Rex Dahl, 58, of Conroe was severely injured in the crash and later died at the hospital.

CPD said the driver and passenger ran from the scene of the accident. The two were later found hiding at the driver's home. The driver, Cesar Sanchez is charged with criminal negligent homicide and failure to stop and render aid; his passenger, Armando Bocanegra, is charged with public intoxication and failure to report a felony. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also placed a hold on both for illegally entering the country.

On Sunday, family, friends, and patron's gathered at Thirsty's Ice House to remember Dahl. The 58-year-old and his wife ran the bar for the past four years.

"He was like a dad to me. We did everything together, we cooked, did benefits, we rode," said Joe Berger.

Dahl was well known for his generosity. Through the years he held benefits and charity events to help out in the community. Dahl's friends say they plan on keeping up the tradition in his honor.

"He would look out for you, the first time that we did the ride for the benefit for the kids in Christmas - it was my heart - they taking care the ones that don't have someone, you know," said longtime patron Fernando Madrid.

Dahl maybe gone, but he will not be forgotten. His friends are already planning a benefit to help his wife and four children with the cost of the funeral.
