TEXAS CITY—
BP has a class action lawsuit on their hands, and this time it has nothing to do with the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.Instead, it has to do with toxic chemicals supposedly leaking from their Texas City refinery.
Texas lawyer Tony Buzbee filed a $10 billion lawsuit on behalf of workers and residents who claim that 538,000 pounds of benzene leaked from the refinery from April 6 to May 16 this year.
According to plaintiffs, BP failed to notify workers and nearby residents, thereby putting their health in jeopardy.
