Arriving at baggage carousel eight were passengers like Richard Sharpe. He has a blood stain on his pants and a turbulent flight on his mind.

"This is from the woman with the head injury," Sharpe said.

His cell phone and others have images from Continental Flight 128. It was supposed to be a non-stop from Rio de Janiero to Houston, but the 168 passengers on board get a sudden jolt: severe turbulence near Puerto Rico.

It lasted only a few seconds, but it was enough to throw some passengers into the overhead cabins on the 767. Passengers say the fasten seat belt light was on.

Camila Machado was going to Las Vegas and was treated for a bruised cheek.

"I felt like the airplane was going to crash. I felt like we were going to die," said Machado.

Richard Sharpe is a trained first responder and in few seconds, he went from being a passenger to a medic.

"Anyone that was bleeding, I helped and made a list for the paramedics," said Sharpe.

The flight was diverted to Miami, where at least 14 passengers were hurt seriously enough to go to the hospital. Other people like 13-year-old Thiago Candido were not hurt. He was traveling alone and was one of the first to arrive in Houston. His mother was waiting for him at the gate

"It felt like an earthquake," Candido said.
