Across the Country law enforcement officials and business leaders are noting a rise in people trying to use fake money.
"It's pretty common in the restaurant industry." said Cafe Express Manager David Rodriguez.
Rodriguez has spotted a fake before, and been faked out with counterfeit cash.
"They're very smart because I'm not one to fool real easy and...if it happened to me I belive it can happen to anyone." said Rodriguez.
Here are a few ways to spot a fake:
Check for color, often times counterfeit bills are a different shade of green
Chech for texture, the bills will often feel soft to the touch
Use a counterfeit detector pen, if the marked line turns up black you likely have a fake
