CRYSTAL BEACH—
Family and friends on Crystal Beach were terrified on Saturday, after they say a plane buzzed the crowd multiple times.Witnesses say the plane was flying between 50 and 200 feet off the ground.
They say the pilot was flying out of control and they really felt helpless.
According to the FAA, it's illegal to operate an aircraft lower than 1,000 feet in populated areas, unless you're taking off or landing.
Dozens of people called 9-1-1 for help.
One caller said, "We're out at Crystal Beach, there's about 50 or 60 jeeps out here. We've got an airplane out here buzzing us about 200 feet above our head. I'm a pilot and that's illegal. He's going to kill somebody."
The FAA is investigating the incident.
