An off-duty Precinct 1 Constable's deputy was hit by a SUV at Kirby and McNee Thursday night. It happened just before six, when the Rodeo is the busiest with people trying to get to the stadium for the start of the show.
Authorities say the vehicle first brushed a deputy. Then when another officer flagged the driver down and asked him to get out, the driver turned around and went back toward the deputy. When the deputy told him to get out of the vehicle, authorities say the driver took off, hitting the Precinct 1 Constable's deputy. The deputy was back on the scene later Thursday night, with his arm in a sling. He said he was leaning in the car window with the driver sped off and ended up tearing some tendons in his shoulder. He said he was lucky to be alive.
Police are looking for the SUV, described as a gray Infiniti with dark windows and damage to the left side. It may have been stolen from someone who was attending the rodeo Thursday.
