Don't expect to see any signs of a recession at local fireworks stands.
Sue Davis, spokesperson for Top Dog Fireworks in Northwest Harris County says the crowd keeps rolling in. With people watching their wallets, and making their purchases count, splurging on fireworks isn't budging.
"We really weren't sure how it was gonna affect the sales," Davis said. " But I don't think we're gonna see any difference with it at all."
Top Dog Fireworks closes at midnight on July 4th and Davis assures the entire day will bring door-to-door crowds. Ask around and people buying fireworks will tell you it's actually a welcome break from the daily grind.
"With times like this you need a good 4th of July celebration," said customer Leonard McCalla. " We all need something to make us smile."
