Part of the huge military base is used as a training facility for urban warfare. It is one of the primary places where U.S. soldiers learn what they'll encounter in places like Iraq. Local Texas civilians dress in Iraqi traditional garb. They are used as actors, playing Iraqi citizens in movie set type villages designed to look similar to what soldiers will see in Iraq.

The facility is where soldiers train to think quickly, and determine which Iraqi's are friendly and which are deadly.

Soldiers also learn to identify improvised explosive devices that are home made bombs. I.E.D.s kill more soldiers than any other type of attack.

Soldiers also practice evacuating the injured. The sharper the soldiers are now, the better their chances of coming home.
