Galveston police officers are on the lookout for burglars.
"There has been an increase of burglaries, especially in this area, the 24th street area," said Officer James Emmerson.
Emmerson patrols the city's east side.
He say that's where most burglaries occur and he's even seeing possible scam artists.
"Someone comes up and says I'll cut your yard. I'll paint your fence. So far, there's been at least three cases out of the burglaries that we've had," Emmerson said.
Guz Alvarez wasn't scammed, but his house was burglarized Friday morning.
"They kicked my door in," said Alvarez. "They smashed my knob and entered my home."
Alvarez says the burglars didn't get much, but his neighbors haven't been as lucky.
"Across the street twice, next door once, myself and I heard my neighbor around the corner twice. So, that's six incidents in the past 8 or 9 months," he said.
Police are beefing up patrols in the area and asking residents to keep an eye out.
"If they see something that looks suspicious. If they've seen someone, they've never seen in the neighborhood, then definitely take note of it," said Emmerson.
Otherwise, the burglaries should continue to be a problem.
"Yes, I'm angry, I'm frustrated, I'm upset for my neighbors and now myself," said Alvarez. "I've been violated, someone's been in my house, but as far as what the officers are doing, I'd have to commend their effort, honestly."
