This next story will get the attention of beer lovers. A family from Katy is taking an empty warehouse that once served as a distribution site for rice silos, and transforming it into a business.

"I started brewing a few years ago and we've always, as a family, enjoyed beer," said Brian Royo, who grew up in Katy, Texas.

Since the Royo's enjoy it so much, they wanted to start a business in a historic party of Katy. And what's more historic than having your operation at an old rice silos warehouse?

"(I'm) sitting around one day and just messing with the beer bottle," Royo told 39 News. "And pulled off the label and I thought 'okay, no label. That's kind of cool there.'"

So they figured let's call it No Label Brewing Co.

"This is what Katy was known (for), was their rice back in the days, and I thought this is a perfect opportunity to open up a brewery here," Royo said.

The concrete rice silos will not house beer. Instead, they're planning on using the inside of the building.

"You have a brew house, which will have a 15-barrel brew house; there's about 31 gallons in each barrel," Royo said. "Our fermentation tanks are going to be 15 barrels."

The idea came about when Brian started working with a home brew kit, which was given to him about three years ago from his best friend, and figured "let's open up a brewery. Let's go for it."

There's no exact opening date just yet, but they do plan on beginning operations by this fall.

"You go to Colorado or Oregon or California you've got hundreds (of micro breweries)," Royo said. "So this is still a pretty new concept to Texas."

Once it's up and running, Brian and his family will serve up some of the finest micro brews Texas has to offer.

"We're gonna start out with a hefeweizen and a pale ale and an amber ale," Royo said. "Basic beers to start out with and we'll stretch from there."

And who knows? If the micro brews do well once they hit the store shelves, it could be history in the making for this family as well.

Since Texas doesn't allow a beer purchase at an actual brewery, beer lovers will have to go to their local stores to sample the No Label Brewing Co. products.
