The 1st ever Kemah Wine Fest drew hundreds to the Kemah Boardwalk Saturday.
Event organizers planned the event as a way to bring tourism and foot traffic back to the shops and restaurants on the Boardwalk.
"Post Hurricane Ike we've been looking for all kinds of ideas to bring people back to the Kemah Boardwalk." said Tim Anderson, General Manager of the Boardwalk. "It's been a little bit of a slow year as far as tourism goes so we've been looking for a lot of fun events for when people can come out."
The Kemah Wine Fest featured over 60 wines from 13 different Wineries in the Pacific Northwest.
"What I love about these events is the number of people who come up and say how much they love our wine." said Colleen Brennan with Chateau St. Michelle.
The event was from 2p-5p. Tickets available in advance online for $35 sold out before the event, tickets at the door were $45.
Event planners say they plan on making it an annual event.
