Harris County fire investigators say they may never know what caused a mobile home fire that killed a 27 year old woman early Sunday. It happened on Willow Branch near Willow Run in unincorporated Harris County.

The body of Jamie Walter was found in the bathroom. Vehicle registration records indicate that Walter is from Woodville, TX.

The nine other people in the house were able to get out alive, including a woman in a wheel chair. They say the smoke was so think that it was difficult to see.

Walter had not planned to spend the night at the mobile home but after having a few drinks friends said she decided not to get behind the wheel of her pick up truck.

Crews from Klein, Spring Cypress, and The Woodlands battled the fire. Lack of fire hydrants made it difficult to stop the flames.

"The last discussion I had with the Chief regarding water he made reference to a specific tanker hauling more than 33-thousand gallons. A tanker only holds 3000 gallons at a time so that's at least eleven trips from that individual truck" said Mitch Weston of the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office.

Weston believes the fire started in the rear of the home where lawn mowers and other equipment were stored. He does not know how it was sparked.

The home is owned by David and Paula Horton. Neither wanted to be interviewed saying there were devastated that they lost everything. The only things that they were able to salvage were a few photo albums.

Their Rottweiler and Cockatiel also died in the fire. Their cat "TJ" survived but seemed confused at the sight of the still smoldering home.
