Three people are dead after a single engine plane crash near Spring Branch, north of San Antonio.
A trooper's report says federal officials blamed aircraft malfunction for the crash Sunday during a trip from Kerrville to Pearland. Weather may have also played a factor.
Two of the victims are 13-year-old Dylan Lord and his 12-year-old brother Brendon from Pearland . They were inseparable. Walk in their Pearland home and you see many pictures of the two brothers together. Monday, their mother had to talk about how these two brothers will now have a funeral together.
"It's like its not really happening...it's like I feel my phone is going to ring and they are going to call me," said Kimberly Elwood.
The brothers were on a single engine plane with their grandfather, 60-year-old Carlos McKinney. It was the end of a weekend together near Kerrville. Shortly after takeoff the plane went down.
Both boys were straight A students. Dylan played football at Miller Junior High School. Brendon Lord loved playing tennis, and was popular at Rogers Middle School. Grief counselors were at both schools early Monday.
"Many of our teachers who were affected by the loss of the students have had other teachers come and take control of their classrooms, just so they can sit and talk about their loss," Renea Ivy-Simms, Pearland ISD spokesperson said.
Funeral services will take place Friday at 6 p.m. at New Hope Church in Pearland.
