39 News is riding in the Mardi Gras parade in Galveston Friday night and joining us is a guy made famous by a car insurance commercial.
Tim McCarthy plays Justin Case. The commercial is by Safe Auto, the paid sponsor of the 39 float. You could say Tim's been floating on cloud 9 with the success of the commercial series. It's also his first gig that required a tie and working in an office setting.
"Most of my jobs have been odd end jobs, never really in the office, so I live vicariously through Justin Case," said McCarthy.
McCarthy auditioned for the part about a year ago and said it was a memorable experience.
"I actually was the first one to go up in the morning and I was let's get it done, get it over with and I felt pretty good about it," said McCarthy. "I didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks and then I got a call saying they like you, are you available these dates and I said yes, yes I am."
When he's not playing Justin, Tim's on stage as a theater actor in Chicago. While he's a long way from the Windy City, the state of Texas is familiar territory. Tim's a native Texan from Dallas.
