Harris Co. Pct. 5 is on the look-out for a suspect who robbed a busy toll booth at gun point. It happened at the Sam Houston toll plaza on the 600 block of the west toll road just north of Briar Forest on Tuesday morning.
Investigators said the suspect pulled up to the busy toll both in a stolen red minivan ready for a quick hit.
" (He) walked up to the collector at the service booth showed her a gun told her to give him the money from the register," said Capt. Terry Allbritton.
The suspect took the money then later dumped the stolen mini van not far from the toll road. Investigators said quick hits at busy toll booths rare.
"This is the first time we have seen two of these types of incidents within the first year perhaps its related to the state of the economy," said Capt. Allbritton.
