Two suspects are in custody and a third is sought in connection with the death of a prominent Houston doctor.

Dr. Jorge Mario Gonzalez, a pulmonary specialist and the chief of critical care at The Methodist Hospital, was shot to death Saturday at his ranch in Bellville.

At a press conference Friday afternoon, Captain Freeman Martin of the Texas Rangers announced the arrests of 23-year-old Cristobal Galvan Cerna and 18-year-old Moises Galvan Cerna.

Both men are charged with murder and are being held in the Austin County Jail without bond.

A third suspect, 18-year-old Misael Santollo, is not in custody. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Friday, it was revealed that Gonzalez did not die without a fight.

"He quickly entered the residence, obtained a handgun and attempted to defend himself," Freeman said.

Gonzalez died in a gunfight, but detectives won't say how many times he was shot or if anything was taken from the residence.

Funeral services for Dr. Gonzalez will take place Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, located on Buffalo Speedway.
