"I was just sleeping in my tent with my boyfriend, you know, and then we got woken up by a lady just shaking our tent and trying to unzip it," said a woman who identified herself only as "Kass."

Kass said the woman came into the tent sat down and began yelling, "They're after me! They're after me! The cops are after me!'"

Kass, 19, and her 22-year-old boyfriend asked the woman what was going on.

"She goes 'They're trying to take my baby! They're trying to take my baby!' " Kass said.

The woman asked the couple to watch her baby boy while she went to get a bottle.

After about an hour, she did not return and the couple grew concerned and called 911.

They said the baby was shaking, his diaper was soiled and he would not stop crying.

Kass told KTLA she believes she knows the woman, and that they live on the streets with the baby.

Police eventually tracked the woman down and arrested her on suspicion of child endangerment, according to police officials.

The baby is now in the custody of Child Protective Services and was not harmed.
