NEW YORK (WPIX)—
Several steel beams fell 40 stories from a crane onto a flatbed truck at the contruction site of World Trade Center 4 Thursday morning with no injuries reported.The Office of Emergency Management confirmed the three large steel columns that fell had been suspended from a crane at the construction site when it crashed to the ground. It is unclear if they were being lifted or lowered when the cranes cable failed.
The accident occurred at the corner of Church and Cortlandt Streets at about 10:15 a.m.
No injuries were reported, but medical assistance was offered at the scene to the crane operator. He refused medical attention.
