An 8-year-old kid in Ohio who weighed 200 lbs. was taken away from his family. You already know, kids today aren't as active, sugar, processed foods, more time in front of the computer etc.; but what about us adults, why are people getting so fat?
I know I talk about weight a lot, but I’m into fitness so I think about this stuff! The short answer…who has time to work out! The CDC says a 150 minutes of exercise a week. That means cardio and weight training to stay fit. Suggesting 3- 10 minute brisk walks a day 5 days a week you'll have to fit in muscle training on at least 2 days somehow. I'm sure that would go over well here at NewsFix. Where's Grego? I need his voice. Oh he's walking around the parking lot…again!
If you have kids there goes more free time. Up at 5:45, walking dogs, making lunches, serving breakfast, showering, taking kids to school, commuting for an hour or so, work until 6pm, commute another hour, dinner, homework, family time, bed. And repeat until the weekend.
If you make time for a workout by getting up earlier, you wind up exhausted and not as productive and the CDC has a fix for that too. More sleep! And, none of this is going to change because with all that life today demands of us, exercise isn't figured into the equation. The obesity epidemic is real and it’s not all our fault! Employers can help. All I want for Christmas is a workout room.
So, eat less, and push away desert…sometimes. Let’s continue this conversation on our Facebook page. Where do you find time to work out or have you given up? I'll be looking for your posts because we're all in this together.
