Herrera is currently the deputy chief of the Houston Fire Department, but he's through withfighting fires. In fact, he's finished with fighting period.

He wants to take on the City of Houston and make it better. And who fits the position better than a Houstonian?

"I’m born and raised here in Houston. I know Houston really well. Went to school here; went to HISD and went to Houston community college here," said Herrera/

"As Mayor, I'm going to listen to the will of the people and cut the red-light cameras off. The drainage tax debacle: it's been a fiasco from start to finish. I want to eliminate that drainage tax."

Herrera believes Houston needs to get out of panic and fighting mode and operate like a quote on quote "business” and not like a “political agenda. "

Come November, we'll see if the City of Houston wants a change.
