Honoring the Girl Scouts on their 100th anniversary would seem pretty harmless, but not up in Indiana, the Hoosier State, as in 'Who’s yer lesbian, commie, Girl Scout leader?'
State representative Bob Morris sent an e-mail to his colleagues in the Indiana House of Representatives, saying he could not support a measure to honor the Girl Scouts because, in his words, they’ve become a 'radicalized organization' that supports abortion.
He said he did some Internet research and found out the Girl Scouts is a radical organization linked to Planned Parenthood and pushes role models who, he claims, are 'feminists, lesbians or communists.'
'Many parents are abandoning the Girl Scouts because they promote homosexual lifestyles,' Morris wrote in his e-mail. '. . . Evidence proves that the agenda of Planned Parenthood includes sexualizing young girls through the Girl Scouts, which is quickly becoming a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood.'
And because of what he`s found on the Internet, he and his wife have taken their daughters out of the Girl Scouts.
The Girl Scouts disagree, of course. 'Girl Scouts believe that all matters of faith and anything that's a sensitive issue at all, belongs at home,' said Cathy Ritchie, the chief operating officer of Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. 'It belongs to the family, it belongs to the family's community, place of worship. That's not what we're about in Girl Scouts.'
Hey, what could be wrong with an organization that sells those wonderful Girl Scout cookies, especially the ones made from real Girl Scouts.
