Careful out there... ATF and local agencies are on the hunt for an organized crew who've been stealing firearms from local gun stores and pawn shops. 274 weapons were stolen in the last six weeks, in 8 related burglaries.

Lt. J. Stauber, with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said: "My worst fear has already been realized, that the guns are on the street, because guns in the wrong hands...there's nothing good can come out of that."

3 members of the crew have been captured, but ATF, Harris, Brazos, and Brazoria County Sheriff's Offices, as well as HPD and other local agencies are on the hunt for the rest of the gang.

Authorities don't know where the guns are, or where they are heading.

"We want those guns back, we want to know where they are at, and we want to put the people in jail that are responsible."

Even more frightening, is the fact that an average of 22,000 firearms is stolen from registered dealer annually, with Texas being third on the list.
