Rose Doucet is one of several trail and wagon bosses with the Texas Independence Trail Ride.

“I always had the passion for it and then I just kept it up and added more and more horses on there and now I have a 3 horse hitch and I love it,” said Doucet.

Four lucky young ladies with Girls Inc. are also going along for the ride to show them the ropes.

They took them on a three mile ride down to the Johnson Space Center.

It took about an hour to make the short trek, but the lessons could last a lifetime.

“We thought the trail ride was a great opportunity for young women to see females in positions of authority, trail bosses and things, and doing what are considered traditionally to be male jobs,” said Lisa Olmey, Program facilitator for Girls Inc.

“I was told that a female trail boss is really rare to see so I was really excited to be picked for this rare opportunity,” says Girls Inc. student Destiny Davis. “It makes me say wow if she can do it I can do it.”

That’s right... Chase your dreams girls.
