All that bitching over birth control worked.
Republicans and the Catholic Church had a conniption fit when the Obama Administration announced that all employers--including religious ones--must cover birth control costs in their insurance plans.
The mandate created such a stink, President Obama had no choice but to back off and compromise.
"If a woman's employer is a charity or a hospital that has a religious objection to providing contraceptive services as part of their health care plan, the insurance company, not the hospital, not the charity, will be required to reach out and offer the contraceptive care free of charge without co-pays and without hassles," said President Obama.
So, religiously-backed institutions can opt out of the mandate, and Republicans can rejoice in the fact that they got their way.
This is the second time this year that law has taken a backseat to religion.
Last month, the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that employees of religious institutions cannot sue for job discrimination.
