They're hungry, athletic and tired of getting the shaft.

Seniors in high school, who didn't get a chance to ink their Division I football scholarship on National Signing Day, receive another chance.

"They're sitting at the table with their [choice of] colleges, you know; their Mom is hugging them and all that stuff and you're looking like, 'that could have been me,'" John Upshaw, a senior football player at Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas, said.

That's exactly how Upshaw's Hightower teammate, Nicholas Wilson, feels.

"The game right before the state semi-finals I get hurt on me knee," said Wilson. "I sprained my MCL so I can't even play the state [championship] game [at Cowboys Stadium against Southlake Carroll] so I can't get the [appropriate] looks [from college scouts]."

"We have this showcase so they can come visit with the small colleges and get the opportunity to go to college, and have it paid for and continue their football career," Chris Vaughan, who's a member of the Houston Touchdown Club, said.

We're talking millions of dollars in scholarships for student-athletes.

"They are able to get full rides, and if not full rides something close so you wouldn't have to pay too much money," said Upshaw.

That's pretty sweet.

"These guys; it's a fresh start for them," Mark Reeve, assistant coach and defensive coordinator at Texas Lutheran University, said. "They're gonna be enthused. The coaches that came are gonna be enthused. We certainly have a list of guys that we like. Now it's their opportunity to decide if they like us."

Opportunity awaits for the gentleman on hand for the Greater Houston Senior Football Showcase at Reliant Stadium to get their chance to sparkle at the next level.
