However, the release of the photos is stirring up some controversy.
The Super Bowl is the most watched sporting event in the world and serves as a convenient partying ground for fans, but it can also be a rich target for terrorists. Now, photos of the means used to protect those at the Super Bowl have surfaced.
Approximately 68,000 fans packed into Lucas Oil Stadium. However, they did not know a sniper rifle was looking over them.
The photos come from the "U.S. Tactical Facebook page.” They claim these inside pictures were taken before the game and the rifle never had a round in it that day.
A Facebook post also claims it was only binoculars were used for observation during the game and not the rifle. The post also stated the rifle was only put into position to get the pictures of the form fit and function of the DCLW tripod.
One photo shows an Indianapolis SWAT team member manning a custom built Remington M700 in a XLR industries chassis, sitting atop an Alamo Four Star DCLW shooting tripod. Outside photos show similar poses.
According to Businessinsider.com, U.S. Tactical Inc. posted the pictures, but said they were forced to pull them from the Facebook page when the comments got out of hand.
The U.S. military, police and federal agencies, including NORAD and Customs and Border Protection, had officers on the ground, all who specialize in multiple types of emergency situations.
