Full Time Video Editor
KIAH-TV has an opening for a Video Editor. Candidates should have 2 or more years experience in General Assignments News. Duties include editing packages, vo’s, vo-sots for daily news program, records satellite and microwave feeds, prepare dubs and help maintain news library, as well as performing other tasks as assigned. Prior experience or knowledge of the Sony DNE 700 and Avid editing equipment is helpful. Most be able to work flexible schedules as required. KIAH is looking for persons who are self-motivated, willing to learn, requires very little supervision, and can still be calm in stress-full situations. Associate Producer
KIAH is expanding News. Applicant will assist news producers in putting their programs together. Responsibilities include writing news stories; directing the editing of video taped stories for broadcasts; logging video feeds, as well as preparing and posting stories for the web. Some field producing, as well as other tasks, may be assigned. The associate producer will also be called upon to produce newscasts as needed. The position requires the ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline pressure
The candidate should have 2-3 years producing/writing experience in a small to medium market. Strong writing skills are essential. All candidates will be given a writing test. Photojournalist
KIAH is looking for a photojournalist to shoot/edit local news.
Candidates should have at least two or more years experience. We are looking for a team player who knows how to tell a story with beautiful pictures and sound.
Must be aggressive; self motivate and inspire others; and have the desire to win. Applicants should have good story-telling skills and must be able to edit packages on deadline.
NPPA style preferred. Experience in microwave live van operations and knowledge of computer editing preferred. Candidates must know how to edit Linear and Non-linear editing with Sony DNE 700 and Avid Editing equipment helpful.
Candidates must have valid driver's license with good driving record, positive attitude and be willing to work a flexible shift. KIAH(TV)-DT camera format is Beta SX.

Newsroom Online Producer
KIAH-TV - Houston is seeking a multi-talented online producer to create, edit and manage content for station websites. Applicants must have the ability to make smart decisions, understand journalistic integrity and work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Other position requirements include a desire to be on top of web trends, skills as a tremendous aggregator of content for use in various platforms and have the patience & knowledge to instruct staff in the operation of various web tools and various news web including (but not limited to) Flickr, Twitter, YouTube and others.
Responsibilities include generating, enhancing and producing audience-focused content for online presentation. This includes preparing & editing text, writing compelling headlines/ teasers/synopses plus editing (and sometimes shooting) photos and video. We place an emphasis on creative execution and expect you to promote our most interesting material. You must work well in a team environment, have the ability to multi-task, effectively communicate in a deadline-driven setting and adapt constructively to change. You will be expected to collaborate with News, Creative Services and Sales to integrate a seamless look from television to the web. Flash experience is a plus, but not required.

Part-time Graphics Operator KIAH-TV has an immediate opening for a part-time news graphics operator. Responsibilities for this position include creation of broadcast graphics and operating our Chyron Infinit! and still store for newscasts and other productions. Additional responsibilities involve operating studio camera, teleprompter, audio, and other duties as needed. Must have excellent attention to detail including grammar and spelling, have a working knowledge of live control room operations and fast paced newscast production techniques. Successful candidate should possess good communication skills and work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
The applicant should have a minimum of 2 years experience in a live news environment.
Availability for evenings, weekends, and some afternoons are a must.
