  1. Closing Comments: It's Hot

Hot as hades outside huh?! To help put it in perspective, throughout the horn of Africa, in countries like Ethiopia and Kenya, as many as 11-million people are at risk of severe malnutrition or starvation as the region faces the worst drought conditions in 60 years. In Somalia famine conditions have resulted in the deaths of 29,000 children under 5 in the last 90 days!  Out of a population of 7 and a half million, the UN says 3.2 million Somalis are in need of life saving assistance. An epic human catastrophe.

  9. Houston's In Hot Water

We're in some hot water guys. Get this. The Texas drought is forcing more and more communities to initiate water restrictions. Friendswood is the latest place where residents are asked not to do things like wash their cars or refill their pools. Other spots, like Galveston, have already had to go there.

  19. Houston's potential water crisis

When it rains it pours. But rain has been hard to come by in Houston lately, and now a new study finds that Houston is the 2nd most likely major city to suffer from a major water shortage.
The findings come from research done by 24/7 Wall Street.
Ceres and the National Resource and Defense Council have also found Houston a possible hotspot for severe water shortage conditions in the next 20 years.
The findings are based on projected water demand, groundwater use, freshwater withdrawals, drought and other factors.
The Houston Public Works and Planning department call the findings, "speculative" with no real statistics.
President&CEO Robert Harriss of the Houston Advanced Research Center says the NRDC figures are "right on."
Harriss says he can imagine a mega drought hitting Houston and resulting in devastating conditions.
