  9. Closing Comments: Population

Living in Houston do you ever feel like you're travelling in a herd wherever you go?  Its not your imagination, a new study shows Houston has added more people in the last 10 years than any of the nations other 366 metropolitan areas!  That’s a blank load of people! The great thing about Texas is our state is huge and you can still find places not very far from downtown where you can drive on a country road with no one else around except you and the cows and find peace and quiet. Take a ride one afternoon to Waller grab HWY 6 and cruise 105 to all the way to Conroe. The Sam Houston National Forest in Montgomery and the Huntsville area is beautiful especially for you bikers. You really want to get lost, head up 59 to Livingston make a right on 190 and you can see where the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas lives on the way to Woodville! Now if you're a scaredy cat don't go at night. It's really dark, but if you get lost just follow the banjos. The key, city dwellers, is to get outta town once in a while even if it's just for the day. Then the crowded freeways and gangs of people downtown don't seem so bad and enjoy it now, because as Houston’s sprawl continues these places won't be quite so remote after a while. Imagine one day seeing a Blue Bell ice cream skyscraper in Brenham! With a cherry on top?
