He was named NFL defensive player of the year in 2005, just the second Bear (along with Mike Singletary) ever to receive that honor. In 2003 he signed a nine-year contract and was instrumental in the Bears reaching the playoffs in 2001 and 2005 and the Super Bowl in 2006.
